Advisory Committees to the Board
Wimmera CMA’s Advisory Committees provide defined input into discussion, planning and decisions related to how our natural resources are managed. They provide information and feedback to Wimmera CMA Board and provide useful support and direction to Wimmera CMA programs. These committees comprise of community and key agency representatives. Advisory Committees create a formal construct whereby the Board can proactively seek advice and feedback on specific issues in relation to outcomes of the Regional Catchment Strategy.
Advisory Committees are structured on three geographic regions in relation to integrated catchment management, including landuse, water, biodiversity and wetland management, and one whole of region Committee representing Landcare.
The Advisory Committees are:
Upper/Mid Catchment Advisory Committee
Western Catchment Advisory Committee
Northern Wimmera Catchment Advisory Committee
Landcare Implementation and Advisory Committee
The regions are based on similarities of natural land use and program delivery.
How do people get involved?
Members are appointed by the Wimmera CMA Board following an ‘Expressions of Interest’ process encouraging local community nominations. Skills and geographic representation are taken into account and members are appointed for a two-year term. Expression of interest will be advertised when they become due.
Other Board Committees
Wimmera CMA has four corporate governance committees including:
1. Finance Committee
2. Audit Committee
3. Human Resources Committee
In addition, special purpose ‘focus groups’ are formed to meet, discuss and advise the Board on issues of particular interest over a defined period of time. These groups compliment and support the advice that the Board seeks from its Advisory Committees.
