Wimmera CMA pleased with flood recovery

One year on from some of the biggest floods in the Wimmera's history, Wimmera CMA is continuing a range of flood recovery activities.

Wimmera CMA chief executive David Brennan spoke to Wimmera Mail-Times journalist Carly Werner about the flood recovery effort and you can read her article here .

Quick flood facts

• The Wimmera catchment has experienced four floods in 16 months, the most recent in December 2011.
• Wimmera CMA is employing eight local people as part of its flood employment program. To date, they have replaced more than 90 kilometres of riparian fencing along waterways. This employment crew will continue working across the catchment for another 12 months.
• Conservation Volunteers Australia are also working with Wimmera CMA as part of the flood recovery effort. Volunteers have removed debris from around 60 kilometres of fencing.
• The Natimuk Flood Investigation is underway, with residents of the town and surrounding areas asked to return survey forms by Friday January 20.
