Second Generation Landcare

What is the purpose of Second Generation Landcare?

Second Generation Landcare aims to control priority weeds over 100,000 ha of private land and roadsides and to control rabbit infestations in over 100,000 ha in the Wimmera CMA region.

Second Generation Landcare is prim1 January 2008 to 31 December 2008, including arily aimed at supporting coordinated pest plant and animal management activities undertaken by Landcare groups. Funding is provided by the Victorian State Government and managed by Wimmera CMA.

Who can apply?
Landcare groups and networks located within the Wimmera catchment.

How much is available?
Up to $30,000, depending on the project.

Are matching contributions required?
Yes, group contributions must be at least equal to the total grant requested. This can be in-kind or cash contributions.

What types of projects does this grant fund?
Funding can support a range of activities including:

  • Management of Wimmera priority weeds on public and private land,
  • Rabbit control works,
  • Salinity control works,
  • Protecting, enhancing or establishing vegetation,
  • Junior Landcare
  • Landcare education, and
  • Facilitation and coordination activities for Landcare groups.

Are there any particular conditions?
All groups must provide a final report of project achievements. Funded projects must be completed by the end of November, 2009. Groups must submit update reports by mid July, 2009, and submit final reports by mid December 2009.

Is there a closing date for applications?
The 2008/2009 Round of Second Generation Landcare Grants has closed.
