What is the purpose of Victorian Landcare Grants? Victorian Landcare Grants support efforts by local groups to increase their capacity to undertake regionally significant projects with high public value. Priorities include fencing, native planting, and coordinated pest management around waterways, hill country, and fragile soils. Groups are encouraged to consider Victorian Landcare Grants funding for works and events aligned to key natural assets protecting social, economic and environmental values. Victorian Landcare Grants will assist the strong Wimmera Landcare community of: - 52 Landcare/community NRM groups - 3 Landcare networks - 1500 members Who can apply? Landcare groups and networks located within the Wimmera catchment. How much is available? Up to $20,000 depending on the project. Small grants are also available to help groups cover maintenance and administration costs. Start up grants are available for new groups. Are matching contributions required? Yes. A matching contribution must be demonstrated for the project budget as a whole. Contributions can be cash ($1:$1) or in-kind (labour, materials, etc). What types of projects does this grant fund? Are there any particular conditions? All groups will receive a large planning map to record proposed works as part of the simple funding application process. A final report of project achievements is required. Detailed grant guidelines are available from Wimmera CMA. Groups are now invited to apply for funding for the 2011-12 period. Is there a closing date for applications? Expressions of Interest for the 2011-12 round of Victorian Landcare Grants should be received by July 7, 2011.
