National Tree Day 2018

National Tree Day 2018

National Tree Day is Australia's largest tree-planting and nature care event

National Tree Day is an opportunity for you to do something positive for your community and the environment by connecting with nature.

Tree Day started in 1996 and since then more than 3.8 million people have planted 24 million trees and plants and it's still growing.

Schools Tree Day is Friday 27 July
National Tree Day is Sunday 29 July

Planting native plants is very important for many reasons:
  • including supporting native animals
  • supporting the soil structure and quality
  • giving the plants the best opportunity to survive and thrive
  • and many more environmental benefits.

Trees truly are the lungs of the planet, giving us fresh clean air, storing carbon, providing shade and habitat for wildlife. The benefits are seemingly endless.
10 Reasons we love trees

There are loads of events taking place all throughout the region. To find one near you, visit the Find an Event section on the National Tree Day website, and make sure you register so that your participation is counted.

Or start your own event!  Don't forget to register it on the National Tree Day website!

And don't worry, if you can’t make it on the official dates “every day can be Tree Day".
