The 2022 Project Hindmarsh planting weekend will be held from Friday 1 July to Sunday 3 July, and hosted at the Dimboola Recreational Reserve.

Future COVID-19 restrictions not withstanding, we will be planting at two sites this year, a small planting on Snape Reserve a few km west of Dimboola, and our big site a short drive east of Dimboola. The big site is a mix of degraded remnant vegetation, reclaimed farmland and native grassland, where we will be re-establishing a Yellow Gum and Native Pine woodland as part of our Big Desert to Little Desert Biolink.

Volunteers are needed to help us plant, guard and water 10,000 trees, shrubs, herbs and grasses across the two sites. All Saturday meals, plus Sunday breakfast are provided. The Saturday night feast will again be catered for by the Karen community. It's worth coming just for the food!

For accommodation, the Dimboola Caravan Park, which adjoins the Dimboola Recreation Reserve, has cabins, powered and unpowered camping sites available for hire. There is one motel in Dimboola, plus the Victoria Hotel. There are also unpowered camping sites at the recreation reserve. Public transport is from Southern Cross station to Dimboola. V/Line operates a rail service to Ararat, then a connecting coach to Horsham and Dimboola. Those wishing to catch public transport will need to make their own bookings. For more information on accommodation and transport options, visit our website www.hindmarshlandcare.org.au

In the event of future COVID-19 restrictions being announced , we may have to cancel the planting weekend at short notice.

Project Hindmarsh is the Hindmarsh Landcare Network's most successful and well known flagship program. Starting in 1998, the Project Hindmarsh planting weekend is the longest running event of its kind in Australia. This event is supported by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Victoria, Landcare Victoria, the Wimmera CMA and Ace Radio 3WM.
